This workshop is designed for students who wish to explore the art of collagraph.  A collagraph refers to a collage of textured materials glued on to a "printing plate,” which is then sealed, inked and printed onto paper using an etching press or hand printing tools. If you enjoy collage and want to transform your collages into a printed image, this workshop provide you with the tools to accomplish this. No prior experience with collage or printing is necessary since this workshop is designed to meet the student at their level of experience.

• Students will learn how to construct a textured collage which can be successfully printed  
Students will learn how to print their collages as either an intaglio print or a relief print.  
Students will learn how to print their collages using both an etching press and hand printing techniques  
Students will produce work that can form the basis for mixed media images

Student Supply List: 
Photos, drawings, sketchbooks, or any other reference materials that can be used as inspiration; f  Small bottle Acrylic Gloss Medium;  Newsprint Pad, at least 10 by 13 inches;  Scraps of colored Japanese paper;  Disposable gloves;  Q-tips;  Tweezers;  Textured flat materials for collagraphs, such as sandpaper, lace, cheesecloth, corrugated cardboard, textured wallpaper, string, salt, etc.; Nothing that is breakable or sharp, such as glass or metal;  Elmer’s Glue; All  4 Matt boards , at least 5"'x7";  Xacto knife;  Paper towels

Varying from one day workshops to multi-week classes, Special Topics are offered once or twice throughout the year and are perfect for learning a new technique, working with a new material, or exploring a specific process. Minimum enrollment needed to run these programs, so please register promptly.
